Inclusion Challenges 2018

With nearly a third of most New Zealand businesses’ customer bases being ethnically diverse, how cultural diversity is reflected in the makeup of your business is more important now than ever!

A McKinsey research revealed that “companies in the top quartile for racial and ethnic diversity are 35 percent more likely to have financial returns above their respective national industry medians.”

  • Do you find it challenging to build trust, achieve profit and design products for the market who look, speak and think different than you?
  • Do you want to have more certainty, clarity and proven roadmap creating growth and productivity in the new markets with cultural diversity?
  • Are you ambitious to build a purpose-driven business with a competitive edge in the global market?

If it is a big and fat YES, then come and join Inclusion Challenges 2018 series starting in July! It is a capability development series designed by Transformational Journeys, providing you a roadmap that turns your goals into results.

Workshop like this is normally $99 per a person, but we decided to make it FREE for July attendees to celebrate the kick off of the Inclusion Challenge Experience.

Your facilitator Shelley Huang is the founder of Transformational Journeys and she has helped over 300 NZ companies in cross-cultural partnership and strategy over the last 16 years. Renowned as an industry high-performer, Shelley was awarded the 2011 Deloitte Chinese Business Figures Award and was nominated as a finalist in the 2016 Women of Influence Award (Diversity Category).

She will share with you some benchmarking projects listed below to discuss both success and failure in the inclusion space. Most importantly, what we can learn from it as a business owner, team manager and marketing professionals!

Shelley’s proven results:

  • Achieved average 17% growth rate Auckland-wide by leading the development of IAG’s “New New Zealanders’ Strategy”.
  • Established $NZ1million investment for Rotorua District Council by negotiating a MoU with the fourth largest airline in the world, China Southern Airlines.

  • Increased tourism sales 20-50% by leading Destination Rotorua to be the first Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) in New Zealand to create a domestic campaign that actively targeted Asian customers “3+2 Love Rotorua”, and Increased web traffic by 648% — the popularity has caused the campaign website to crash at the time.
  • Generated more than $NZ7million advertising spend for New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE) over 1,200 media stories, including by CNN, BBC and CNBC.

We have teamed up with The Common – the Entrepreneurs Playground, to provide you a unique capability development experience with like-minded business professionals.

  • Real: we present you first-hand view from your customers to employees who are living and breathing cultural diversity, compare it with your own insights, and dive into the action that helps you to reach your goal.
  • Revolutionary: We break the mold by bringing you an interactive experience using real-time opinion polling technology, role-play focused on changing perspectives and authentic video interviews to facilitate self-awareness and transformation.
  • Results: Awareness is powerful, but it’s just the start; clarity empowers momentum forward! By the end of the workshop participants will be able to see their own blind-spots, allowing the clarity to tailor their personal and organisational approaches in action leadership.

Spaces are really limited so you must register to secure your place!

As your insights are super important to facilitate self-awareness, we encourage every attendee to complete a pre-workshop survey. You will receive it after your sign up. Be assured that all answers you provided will always stay anonymous. You will also need to bring your smart phone to be part of this interactive experience.

Diversity and inclusion has recently become a spotlight in the eyes of leaders, managers, HR professionals and media! We all know it is where growth and innovation come from, but it is also where disruption and conflict come from.

  • Are you ambitious in converting thought leadership into action leadership?

Shelley’s proven results:

  • Increased employee engagement by leading IAG to become one of the first New Zealand corporations to roll out Cultural Intelligence (CQ) training, and acted as a change agent to attract more than 20 IAG business units across Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch along with representatives from PWC, AirNZ, ASB, ANZ, Vector and Auckland University to attend the CQ training.
  • Increased IAG’s senior leadership’s CQ and EQ by designing “Diversity Media Famil Programme”, through which C-suite leaders interacted with different ethnicities’ media and embedded their learnings into New NZers’ strategy design.
  • Doubled the number of ethnic graduates’ number by leading IAG to be the first New Zealand insurer to use the popular Chinese social app WeChat for its Graduate Programme.
  • Reduced both operational and reputational risks by mitigating sensitive issues in a political, business and cultural context for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) during the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake Rescue Mission.
  • Recruited and led a media team of 10 crews from NZ, Australia, UK, US, Canada and China to produce the first NZ-made travel series that provided insight into the indigenous Chinese culture – ‘China: Off the Beaten Track’.
